About the Family
A busy and well-staffed family in Lincoln Park, IL is seeking an experienced, proactive, and highly organized Nanny/Family Assistant to support their five young children and household. This is a unique role that is approximately 80% family assistant and household support and 20% childcare, making it ideal for someone who enjoys taking ownership of household organization, daily tasks, and logistics while also providing hands-on support with the children.
The children are bright, affectionate, active, spirited, and developmentally engaged. The family has a fully staffed household with a four-nanny ROTA team and employs a chef Monday through Thursday. Both parents maintain very busy schedules, and Mom is frequently in and out of the home. The ideal candidate will be comfortable collaborating within an established household and working seamlessly alongside the existing team.
The family has four Pomeranians and a dedicated dog caregiver who assists weekday mornings. The Nanny/Family Assistant will provide occasional pet support, including letting the dogs out, weekend feeding, and coordinating grooming appointments.
About the Role
The majority of this role will focus on household support, organization, and daily task management. The Nanny/Family Assistant will be responsible for maintaining organization throughout the home, managing children’s laundry, changing sheets, preparing meals and snacks, setting and clearing tables, kitchen tidying, dishwasher management, household errands, grocery-related tasks, and maintaining household inventory.
The Family Assistant will also take ownership of ongoing organizational projects, including children’s closets and clothing bins, play areas, and other areas of the home. They will proactively monitor and restock household and children’s supplies through Target and Amazon and anticipate the Family’s needs without requiring constant direction.
The childcare portion of the role includes helping the children get ready in the mornings, preparing snacks and meals, assisting with naps and bath time, supporting daily routines, and helping with transportation to activities, appointments, birthday parties, and errands. A family vehicle is provided for all on-the-job driving.
The ideal candidate is proactive, resourceful, reliable, communicative, adaptable, highly organized, detail-oriented, calm, and team-oriented. They should naturally take initiative, work well within a ROTA team, and be comfortable balancing household management with childcare. The Family values a Montessori-inspired yet authoritative parenting approach and appreciates someone who can confidently maintain clear boundaries and consistent routines.
