A warm family in Tribeca, New York City is seeking an experienced, emotionally mature, kind, engaging, and proactive Nanny/Family Assistant to care for their bright and spunky 5-year-old daughter. She is described as silly, thoughtful, and full of personality, and she loves art, singing, dancing, and imaginative play.

Dad works from an office, while Mom is a stay-at-home parent who is very involved in her daughter's day-to-day life, schooling, and development. Mom and Dad live in separate homes nearby each other, and the nanny should be comfortable navigating between the two homes as needed.

The family is looking for someone who is warm and communicative and can work collaboratively with Mom while also confidently taking ownership of the child's care and schedule. They value someone who is emotionally mature, confident setting boundaries, strong with redirection, creative, playful, and proactive.

The family is getting a cat this fall, so comfort with cats is required. They do not have any dietary restrictions, but they prioritize healthy eating, including limited sugar and no red dye.

About the Role

This role will primarily focus on providing engaging, attentive, and developmentally appropriate care for the family's 5-year-old daughter. The nanny will pick her up from school, coordinate her afternoon activities and playdates, and create a fun, enriching environment centered around her interests and development.

The child attends school until approximately 3:30 p.m., with an earlier 2:20 p.m. dismissal on Wednesdays. She occasionally attends an after-school playgroup until 4:30 p.m. and has gymnastics on Thursdays from 4:15–5:05 p.m. The nanny will be responsible for school pickups and transportation to activities and playdates.

The family would love a nanny who will take initiative in coordinating playdates and building strong connections with the child's friends, classmates, and their nannies. The ideal candidate will enjoy staying connected with the local nanny community and helping the child maintain an active and engaging social calendar.

The nanny should be creative and playful and genuinely enjoy getting down on the child's level to engage in reading, coloring, art projects, imaginative play, and other age-appropriate activities. The family values someone who can support the child's routines and habits while providing appropriate structure, consistency, and boundaries.

Strong cooking skills are highly desired. The nanny will be responsible for healthy meal preparation for the child, including cutting fruits and vegetables, preparing dinners five days per week, and introducing a new recipe each week. The family is looking for someone who is proactive about meal planning and enjoys helping the child develop healthy eating habits.

Household responsibilities will include taking out the garbage, seasonal clothing inventory for the child, household inventory, grocery shopping approximately once per week, meal planning, child laundry including sheets, weekly bedding changes, light home tidying and organization, kitchen tidying and cleanup, and light cleaning related specifically to the child's room and belongings. This may include stain care, bed making, toy organization, and cleaning the child's bathmat and water bottle. It would also be ideal, but not required, for the nanny to be responsible for servicing the family car approximately 1–2 times per year.

The family would appreciate someone who is highly organized, takes initiative without needing to be asked, and can confidently manage the many details that come with supporting a child's schedule and household. No car is required for the position, as transportation will primarily be by walking and public transportation.

A high degree of flexibility will be important, as the family will need the nanny to stay late with 1-2 nights per week. For evenings that extend past 8:00 or 9:00 p.m., the family will provide an Uber home. The family may also invite the nanny to join them for optional domestic travel, primarily to the Hamptons during the summer, although travel is not required for the position.

Requirements:

• Prior professional nanny experience

Pets: A cat will be joining the family in the fall. Comfort with cats is required.

Transportation: No personal vehicle is required. Nanny will primarily use walking and public transportation for on-the-job transportation. 

Travel: Optional domestic travel, primarily to the Hamptons during the summer. Travel is not required.
